Monday Week 4. I woke up this morning excited to have Chocolate oatmeal again. Went to breakfast had a great meal then headed back to the room to clean before room inspection. I fixed my side of the room, put away clothes, hung up jackets, even swept the floor. Then went on my computer till Master Gou came by. Our room got inspected and we did well except Sam to fix his suit cases a little better.
After the inspection I got ready for Morning class. First thing every Monday my Wing Chun group, has to run around the academy instead of running to the tree and back. I’m not sure why they split us up but the a different group runs around inside the academy each day of the week. Last week since I was still on antibiotics, I walked in the mornings. Today, even though I am still on antibiotics, I feel great and decided to start running again.
After the run we went to the small training hall for regular Wing Chun class. After warm ups we did drills then practiced our forms. Next Friday is Grading for the whole school and I want to grade my first form in Wing Chun. I also hope to learn the rest of the second form in Wing Chun. I have about 12/16th of the second form down. So by Thursday I should have it down and maybe if I feel confident I will grade both forms.
After first class I had my protein bar break and then headed down for conditioning. We hit the tree, each other, kicked each other, and I even had the guys go harder this time and got some good bruises.
Lunch was back to the usual. No more Pizza Hut or McDonalds. I miss the weekend food already. But the academy food keeps me going everyday and I am too hungry to care.
During my afternoon lunch break, Sam and I were on our computers talking to family and friends when I noticed a HUGE brown spider crawling on the ground by the door. It was really big, as big as my palm. Pretty scary. Sam told me to kill it! I said “No WAY U KILL IT!” And he said “NO YOU!” I said “USE MY SHOE” and handed it to him and he went over to it and smashed the spider like five times with my shoe just to make sure it was dead. I have no idea how it got in our room. Luckily I noticed it because it kind of blended in with the wood floor. So during break I was really freaked out and checked my bags, shoes, BED, for any more spiders.
When we lined up before the afternoon run we had two new students introduce themselves. These two BOYS were 13 years old. Came to train for 2 months. They picked the wrong season to train...its getting colder.
During the afternoon training Master taught me literally one step to my form. ONE step! I want to get to the stick form already! Ugh...but I practiced my form and I was talking to Gertle, the tall blonde guy from Norway, if he was going to grade for Baji basics. He said he needed a partner because the Baji basics include some sparring. I said teach me the sparring part because I know the basics already and I’ll be his partner for Friday if we can get it down. So we practiced for the rest of the class and when Master Gou walked around helping people I went up to him and asked him if he can watch Gertle and I do our form because we want to Grade this Friday in front of the Masters and the WHOLE school. He gave us some tips on the sparring part which is just basic hitting forearms, banging shins, hiting each other, just the usual tough baji moves. The tips really helped us get the form down. I think if we practice every day this week we will have no problem grading this Friday which will mean I might have three forms to grade. I might grade one form in Baji and one form in Wing Chun but I’m shooting for one form Baji and two forms Wing Chun. Time to practice practice practice!
After class I showered up and got ready for dinner. Dinner was the usual chicken and veggies but I ate everything in my bowl. I noticed I have a HUGE appetite here.
Going to get an early sleep tonight.
Goodnight
